In the name of God Amen, whereas I Matthew Caviness Senr of Chatham County & State of North Carolina, being very low and weake of Body, But in perfect Mind and Memory and cauling to mind that it is alotted for all men to die - I therefore commit my Soul to him that made it and my Body to the Earth To be Buried at the Discretion of my Executors, and as touching My Wordly Goods I will and Bequeathe them as follows I will to my Sons Robert Caviness all my land whereon I now live To him his Heirs (interlined: but he is to pay my Debts) & ondly that my Beloved wife Ann is to have Her lifetime in it In Peace & Quaitness and My Son George is to Have the Peace of Ground cauld his to Tend as long as his Mother doth live and as To my moveable propperty.
