CHATHAM COUNTY, NC - WILLS - George Gee, 28 Jan or Jun? 1848 ----¤¤¤¤---- Probated August Term, 1848 Pg. 217 & 218 of Vol. C, of the Wills of Chatham Co. "I George Gee of the County of Chatham & State of North Carolina being of sound mind & memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will & testament in manner & form following that it is to say, first, that my executors pay all my just debts out of the money that my first come into their hands as a part or parcel of my estate, Item= I give and devise to my eldest son William Gee that part of the tract of land on which I now live to have and to hold in fee simple forever that will lie South of a line beginning on a persimmon tree in the field with John Gee's corner, running East to Jehu Lambert's line. One wagon. Item= I give and devise to my youngest Son, George W. Gee, the balance of the tract of land where I now live to have and to hold in fee simple forever. one cupboard which I now use. Item- I give and bequeath to my son John M. Gee the amount that he is due me on a note that I hold against him. Item= I give and bequeath to my grandson Nathaniel M. Bridges the tools and loom that belongs to me, that he has now in his possession. all notes and judgements that I hold against him. Item= I give and bequeath to my daughters Sally Fitts & Polly Jones all my beds and furniture to be equally divided between them. Item= My will & desire is that my three negroes, Vilet, Maria & Henry be divided among my three daughters Sally Fitts, Polly Jones & Eleanor Sellers, equally, share and share alike the division to be made in the following manner, the whole of the negroes to be valued and Eleanor Seller to take Henry and pay the excess of his valuation above her distributive share ot make up the deficiency in the other two lots. Sally Fitts & Polly Jones to draw for Vilet & Maria. Item= My will & desire is that all the residue of my Estate after taking out the devises and legacies above mentioned if there should be any surplus over & above the payment of debts expenses 7 legacies over to my said three daughters Sally Fitts, Polly Jones & Eleanor Sellers in equal properties share and share alike to them and each & every of them their executors, administrators & assigns forever, and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son George W. Gee & my son in law, Wiley Jones my lawful executors to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will & testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same & any part and clause thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills & testaments by me heretofore made in witness whereof I the said George Gee do hereunto set my hand and seal this the 28th day of June (or Jan?) 1848 Signed sealed published & declared by the said George Gee to be his last will & testament in presence of us who at this request in his presence subscribe our names a s witnesses thereto.
