CHATHAM COUNTY, NC - WILLS - John Hackney, 7 Jan 1851 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Will of John Hackney January 7th, 1851 North Carolina State Archives, Chatham County Wills Call No. 022.801.12 In the name of God amen, I John Hackney of the county of Chatham and state of North Carolina, being in a bad state of health, but of sound and desposing mind and memory, and calling the mortality of my body and it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form, and touching my worldly goods, which it pleased God to bless me with, which I despose of them in the following manners. Veg- ? First of all, that my just debts be promptly paid. 2. I give and bequeath unto my son Joshua W. Hackney all my lands lying on the North side of the road leading from Bynum Bridge on Haw River to Raleigh , also a horse worth seventy dollars, as seventy dollars in money, which I give to him and his heirs forever. 3. I give and bequeath to my daughter Candis W. Hinton and my son Joshua W. Hackney to Negro boys by the name of Calvin and Spencer, to be equally divided between them to them and their heirs forever. 4. I give and bequeath to the heirs of my deceased daughter Sarah A. Ward a certain Negro girl by the mane of Liney and direct that the said Negro girl be sold and equally divided between the heirs of said deceased which I give to them and their heirs forever. 5. I give and bequeath to my grand son Sidney Hinton, one bed, bedstand and furniture which I have hereto fore placed in his possision which I give to him had his heirs forever. 6. I give and bequeath to my grandson John J. Hackney, one bead bedstand and furniture which I have hereto fore put in his possession which I give to him and his heirs for ever. 7.I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Sarah M. Ward, one bed bedstand and furniture which I have hereto fore put in her possession which I give to her and her heirs forever. 8. I give and bequeath to my daughter Candis H. Hinton, my son Joshua W. hackney and the heirs of my desceased daughter Sarah Ward, in addition to what I have hereto fore given, all the residue of my property that I have not heretofore assigned of to be divided in the following manner: Candies H. Hinton to have one third part of said residues. Joshua H Hackney, one third part of said residue, and the heirs of Sarah Ward as aforesaid the other remaining third part which I give to them and their heirs forever. 9th and lastly, I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint by well beloved son-in-law Albert G. Hinton and my son Joshua W. Hackney, Executors to this my last will and testament, realizing all all affairs by me made and acknowledge this and this only to be my last will and testament the manner and form as above stated.
