CHATHAM COUNTY, NC - WILLS - George Harman, 21 Dec 1849

In the Name of God Amen, I George Harman of Chatham County, North Carolina 
being in perfect mind - do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament. 
First of all I recommend my soul to Almighty God hoping through the  ? of 
Christ for a ? Resurrection.  As for what worldly goods it hath pleased 
Almighty God to bestow on me I give and bequeath in the following manner.
1th  my will and desire is that a committee be appointed to lay off and set 
apart a reasonable allowance for my wife & her children for one year.
2nd   I loan or give to my beloved wife one bed and furnature during her 
natural life after which my desire is that it go to her youngest child 
Bridget.  I also give to my wife two side boards one walnut table one chest 
one candle stand one trunk two sets of bed curtains, all the window curtains & 
one side saddle.
3rd   I give and bequeath to my daughter, Mary one bed and furnature.
4th   I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth one bed and furnature.
5th   I give and bequeath to my son Henry Harrison one bed and furnature and 
one chest of tools.
6th   My will and desire is after paying my just debts, that the ballance if 
any be equally divided between my wife her four children my son James Henry, 
Thomas Wats, Roderick and Nancy Maddox.
I hereby appoint my son James H. Harman Executor to this my Last Will and 
Testament hereby revoking all others this 21st of December 1849.

My will and desire is that my younger girls have all of the bed clothes that 
they may be able to make free from any claims that may be made upon my Estate 
by my Executor or any other person.
