Written: March 14, 1801 Recorded: December 10, 1806 Will of Robert Marsh In the name of God, Amen. I, Robert Marsh of the County of Chatham & State of North Carolina, being in perfect mind and memory, thanks be given to God, calling to mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is apointed for all men once to die, do make & ordain this my Last Will & Testament, viz. Principally & first of all, I give & recommend my soul into the hands of almighty God that gave it me & my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion. Nothing doubting, but at the general resurrection, I shall recieve the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life. I give, demise & dispose of in the following manner & form. First, I give & bequeath to my unmarried children the sum of twenty pounds each North Carolina currency to be paid at their marriage to be raised & levied out of my estate. Also, I give unto my son Charles Marsh the sum of five shillings sterling; and the balance of my estate to be equally divided betwixt the rest of my children: John, William, Robert, Joseph, Henry & Elexander my sons and Elizabeth Brantley, Barbara Griffith, Mary Hackney, Nancy Dilliard, Martha Lambert, Sarah Davis, Frances Taylor, Eliza Stuart, and Henrietta, my daughters. And I do hereby constitute make and ordain William Marsh & Daniel Hackney the sole executors of this my Last Will & Testament, & I do hereby disanul, revoke & disallow all & every other former testament, wills, legacies, bequests & executors by me in any wise before named, willed & bequeathed, ratified & confirming this & no other to be my Last Will & Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & one Robert Marsh (Seal) Signed, sealed, published, pronounced & declared by the said Robert Marsh as his Last Will & Testament in the presence of us who in this presence & in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our names.
