CHATHAM COUNTY, NC - WILLS - William Phillips, 28 Mar 1831 ----¤¤¤¤---- Will of WILLIAM PHILLIPS March 28, 1831 (Maury, Tennessee and Chatham County, North Carolina) In the name of God Amen, I William Phillips of Chatham County North Carolina being of sound and perfect mind and memory (blessed be God) do this 28th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following: first, I give and bequeath to my loving wife Gleaco Phillips all my real and personal estate during her lifetime. Secondly, after her death I will and devise that my worthy friend underwritten executor sell all my personal estate and equally divide the assets arising from the same between my six children: Jane Brewer, wife of Mijacah Brewer, Elizabeth Phillips, Silby Phillips, Henry Phillips, Issac Phillips and Feby Davis wife of William Davis after paying my just debts. Thirdly, I desire that my real estate be equally divided between the above named six children which was not born in wedlock but are the fruits of my body and I make them equal heirs of my estate by this my last will and testament and I hereby make and ordain my worthy friend Jesse Womble Executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereas I the said William Phillips have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this day and date above. Written, sealed and published in the presence of A.B. Kelly and Patrick Moore.
