CHATHAM COUNTY, NC - WILLS - Elijah Stallings, 19 Jun 1817 ----¤¤¤¤---- In the name of God Amen: I Elijah Stallings of the county and state aforesaid being in perfect mind and memory thanks be to God, Calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament. That viz; to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul to the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I do recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors. Nothing doubting but that at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the might power of God, and so touching (my) worldly estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give and dispose of the same in the following manner and fashion. First, I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Joseph Stallings the sum of twenty five shillings. Secondly, I give to my well beloved daughter Peggy Stallings the sum of twenty five shillings. Thirdly, I give to my beloved daughter Elizabeth Rackley the sum of twenty five shillings. Fourthly, I give unto my beloved daughter Kezziah McIntosh the sum of twenty five shillings. All the remaining part of my estate I give to my will beloved wife, Esther. Also I have appointed Alexander Morris and Jesse (Theist) my same executors of this my last will and testament and I do hereby wholly disallow revoke said disannul all and every other aforesaid testaments will legacies bequeaths executed by me in any wise before made willed and bequeathed qualifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness where of I have unto set my hand this nineteenth day of June in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventeen. Elijah Stallings was the son of Elias and Nancy Ann (Riddick) Stallings of Franklin County, NC. Elias and Ann both made there will's in Franklin County.
