This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Sue Ashby canova@tstar.net *************************************************************** Chatham County Record of Estates 1782-1799, Vol. 1, pg. 21, 21 a NC State Archives Film # C.022.5001 Will of William Ashford - 1 March, 1784 In the name of god amen this first day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred eighty four I william Ashford of the State of North carolina and County of Chatham being very sick of Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to god for the same and calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die I do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament Viz first of all I give and bequeath to my son John Ashford all my Land joining Edmund Woddle William Hill Agnus Harrington and John Minters Lines which is first of all a Tract bought from Charles Clanton by Agnus Harrington by Estimation one hundred and seventy five acres be the same more or less to his only use and behoof his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby constitute and appoint my friend Thomas harrington my only and sole Executor of this my last will & Testament and further I do give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sary Ashford one Sorrell Mair branded thus MR on the near shoulder and likewise I do bequeath all the rest of my worldly good to thomas harrington which is on bey mair branded thus HR on the shoulder and yearling colt and every other creature of any kind Likewise all and every one of my utensils that is my property rattifying this and not other to be my Last Will Testament whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Day & year above written In presence of Joseph Martin Rebekah Martin signed William Ashford (his mark "A") {seal} Proved in open court Nov.
