Vol. 1. pg. 17, 17a & 18 in the Chatham Co., Wills, NC State Archive Film # C.022. 5001 In the name of God Amen I Thomas Wicker Sen'r of Chatham County and State No' Carolina planter being in perfect health mind and memory thanks be given unto God for it but calling unto mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament that is to say principally & first of all I give & recommend my soul into the hands of almighty God that gave it and as touching such worldly goods & Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life after all my just debts being first paid I give & demise [devise ?] & dispose of the same in the following manner and form __ First I do lend Mary my dearly beloved Wife during her natural life the plantation whereon I now live together with all the Household goods & furniture the stock of every kind and all that my appurtain thereto to be freely possessed by her until her decease then and at which time I do give & bequeath the said plantation to my son Robert Wicker & his heirs forever and the said Household goods & furniture Horses & stock of all kinds and every thing that may appurtain to the said plantation I do leave to be sold agreeable to Law at the discretion of my Executors and after all Just Debts being first paid out of the same to be equally divided amongst each and every one of my Children __ Secondly I give to my son David Wicker one Negroe wench named Doll, only not to be possessed until his Mother deceases then to him and his Heirs forever whom I likewise constitute make and ordain together with my son Thomas Wicker Jr. the Executors of this my last Will and Testament Thirdly I give to my son Benjamin Wicker and his Heirs forever one Negroe Boy named Harry. Fourthly I give to my son Thomas Wicker Junr. and his Heirs forever one Negroe girle named Jinny Fifthly I give to my son James Wicker and his Heirs forever one Negroe girle named Phillis Sixthly I give to my son John Wicker and his Heirs forever one Negroe girle named Kate Seventhly I give to my Daughter Temperance and the Heirs of her body forever one Negroe Man named Isaac and I do hereby utterly disavow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments Wills and Legacies and bequests and Executors by me in any wise before named Willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will & Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand & affixed my seal this Twenty fourth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred and Eighty one.
