CHATHAM COUNTY, NC - WILLS - Henry Williams, 27 Feb 1858 ----¤¤¤¤---- Found in the loose paper of the NC State Archives: " In the name of God Amen, I Henry Williams of the County of Chatham and State of North Carolina, being of Sound mind and memory, blessed be god, do make this 27th day of february, One thousand eight hundred & fifty eight make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner as following, that is to say First, I lend unto my loving wife Mary Williams two choice negros, two choice horses, two choice cows, three beds & furniture, two choice sows & pigs, all necessary kitchen furniture and one years support. Also my home tract of Lande or as much of it as she want, also one little negroe boy by the name of Moses and one two horse wagon it not not on my farm to buy one of the proceeds of my estate. Item 2. I leave in the hands of my Executors one tract of land in the County of Wake to the use of my daughter Emeline Trice whereon she now lives during her natural life, valued at eighty dollars and then to be equally divided between the Lawful heirs begotten of her boddy. Also one negro woman by the name of (?) and all her increas valued at seven hundred and fifty dollars when she went there the said negro woman and her increase I leave in the hands of my Executor to go to my daughter Emeline Trice and the Lawful heirs together of her boddy. And in the even should the said Emeline Trice and all of the Lawful heirs begotten of her boddy dye before they become of age the aforesaid property return to the rest of my Lawful heirs. I also leave it in the power of my Executor to hire out the aforesaid negroes if they think fit and the proceeds to go to the support of Emeline & her children. The land & negroes is to account for so much of her part of my estate. Item 3. It is my will and desire that Marmaduke Williams and Josephus Williams have one hundred each more than any of rest of my children because they have stayed and worked longer and my son Rubin to have one hundred dollars less. Item 4. I have given to my son G.J. Williams a deed for a tract of land whereon he now lives two hundred acres more or less valued at four hunred & fifty dollars which is to come out of his part of my estate. Item 5. It is my will and desire that all the negroes that fall to my girls is only to their use as long as they live and at their death then and their increase to the lawful begotten of their boddy and if dying without such to return to my estate. Item 6. At my death it is my desire that all my negroes be hired out 3 or 4 years or work the hand on the lands if any of my children will attend to them st $150 dollars per year. Item 7. It is my desire that all the proceeds of the (?) rents or and notes and moneys be invested lands to the best advantage and then to be queally divided or sold & divide among all of my children as long as they live and then to the lawful heirs begotten of their boddy. Item 8. I hereby appoint and ordain my beloved sons to wit. G.J. Williams, Joseph sefes Williams & Marmaduke Williams my Executors to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I the said Henry Williams have hereunto set my hand and seal this 27th of February 1858.
