CHATHAM COUNTY, NC - WILLS - M.D. (Marmaduke) Williams, 18 Feb 1879 ----¤¤¤¤---- Found in the loose papers NC State Archives: In the name of God Amen, I M.D. Williams Sen. of the County of Chatham and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of life do make and declare this my last will and testament. That is to say Item 1st I give and bequeat unto my wife Penny Williams all of my household and kitchen furniture or as much of it as she sees cause to keep. Iten 2 I bequeat unto my wife all of my stock of every description on hand at my death and all the farming utinsils or as much of it as she sees casue to keep. Item 3 I bequeat unto my daughter Dillila Davis one tract of land and bounded as follows beginning at my corner and the Kelly Girls corner running south to Paschel Mulhollon line all of my land east of that line supposed to be one hundred acres more or less this I give to her and her bodily heirs and if they should die without issue the land is to return back to my estate. Iten 4th I give unto my son L.J. Williams a certain parcel of land beginnin at Indian Branch f--?-- Eliza Jinkins T.C. Sears land running up the Mill path North East direction to a hedgerow thence East with the hedgerow to branch west of the watermellon patch thence up the Branch in a Norther direction to the Mill path thence down the meanders of the spring Branch to the Mill Path Thence down the Mill Path to a point thence in a westerly direction to a large dich thence down the dich to New Hope thence down the meanders of New Hope to my and T.C. Sears corner thence East with T.C. Sears line to the Indian Branch thence up the meanders of the same to the beginning contain one hundred acres more or less. Item 5th I give unto my daughter Martha A. Council an small tract of land on which the former residence of P.B. Council now stand containing three and half acres. Item 6th I give unto my two grandsons Cary & John Council one tract of land containing one hundred acres moore or less known as the Horton tract adjoining D.M. Mason and others. Item 7th I give unto my daughter Lavinia Sears one parcel of land beginning the road near H. Sears hous running south to the calf lane thence east to a little branch at the mouth of the calf lane thence down the Branch to the lower end of the cotton patch thence south 20 poles thence East to the Kelly Haus line thence North to the Morrisvill road thence West with said road to the beginning. Item 8th I give unto my wife Penny Williams one hundred acres of land to include the dwellings and all out houses. Item 9 It is my will and desire at my death that there shall be and equal division of my property among all of my children and the lands that I have given away shall be valued without the improvements that they may hearafter be put on their several tracts.
