E.A.Savage, 91, Dies At Murphy
Pioneer Cherokee Citizen Will Be Buried This Afternnon
Murphy, Apr 23.- E.A.Savage, 91, died Monday night at 11 o
clock at his home at the Regal Hotel, Murphy. He was born and raised in 
Stokes County, N.C., but had been citizen of Murphy for the past 15 years. 
He was married in 1866 to Miss Charlotta Savage, and to this union were born 
nine children Mrs. Laura Silver, Tacoma, Wash; C.W. and W.A. Savage, Murphy; 
Dr. Frank Savage, Hatch, New Mexico; James T. Savage, Coeburn, Va.; 
deceased, Mrs. Nannie Gunderson; Charles P. Savage, Tacoma, Wash; Walter G. 
Savage, Chihuhahua, Mexico; Mrs. Lizie Burns, Murphy.
Mr. Savage had been a faithful member of the M.E. Church for about 60 years 
was a veteran of the Civil war and possibly the oldest citizen in Cherokee 
county. He returned about three weeks ago from Florida where he had spent 
the winter. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Methodist church.
