Chowan County, NC - Eelbeck Cemetery at Blenheim Manor House Copyright. It got its name from two brothers, William and Henry John Eelbeck, who lived on the property known as The Pagett Plantation. Some 500 ft. north lies the remains of Blenheim Manor House where the brothers lived. There are six unmarked graves in this cemetery. Although it is not provable, I believe the graves in this plot belong to brothers William Eelbeck, 1799, and Henry John Eelbeck, 1802. Later John Dickinson, son of Dr. Samuel Dickinson and wife Elizabeth, the sister of the Eelbeck brothers, acquired Blenheim and died there in 1815, and was buried in Eelbeck Cemetery. Dr. Samuel Dickinson died around 1816 and was buried in the garden of the Cupola House, which he owned, and his widow Elizabeth Penelope Eelbeck Dickinson died in 1819. His body was disinterred and buried with Penelope at this location. The plantation at that time was owned by their daughter, Penelope Bond. The final grave is thought to be of Samuel Pagett -1745, the first owner of the Plantation, who received about 2000 acres of Proprietary Grants between 1714 and 1722. So hence the order of burial being: Samuel Pagett, -1745 William Eelbeck, -1799 Henry Eelbeck, -1802 John Dickinson, -1815 Dr. Samuel Dickinson, -1816 Elizabeth Penelope Eelbeck Dickinson, -1819 Believed to be true and accurate as documents found.
