The said Estate consists of 53,000 acres of Land in Washington County, North Carolina, lying between the Canal and Long Acre, binding on Lake Phelps, Pungo Lake, and the head of the Pungo River. Also, 5,000 acres of Land on Gum Neck, near Little Alligator River, in Tyrell County. The above lands are equal, if not superior for fertility of soil, to any Lands within the State; no part of them are subject to freshets or overflowings from said Lake or River, but a very considerable part may be laid under water or kept perfectly dry, at pleasure, by means of said Canal. This Caanal, formerly cut by the Company to join the waters of Lake Phelps to Scuppernog River, is 20 feet wide and six feet deep, and affords an excellent navigation the distance of six miles on one side of the first tract, on it, and on the Lake, is the plantation, contaning about 300 acres of cleared Land, in a high State of cultivation. The produce in general is for one acre in wheat about 20 bushels, in rice from 50 to 60 bushels, and in Indian Corn, in good seasons about 63 bushels, taking the whole crop together. In dry seasons, Hemp has been very productive. On the plantation, a Rice machine in complete order, in a building of 72 feet long, 42 feet wide, and four stories high. Also a Grist Mill, with a pair of Stones for Corn, and a pair for Wheat, with two Bolting-Cloths, Etc. Also, a Threshing machine in excellent order --. There is a Saw-Mill in good repair. There is also a good Dwelling House, two stories high, and all Convenient Out Houses, besides two barns and Stables, Etc. There are upwards of 60 Negroes above 12 years of age, amongst them are tradesmen of different kinds. There are Carpenters, Coopers and Blacksmith Tools, besides every kind of Plantation Utensils in good order, Horses, Mules, Hogs, Sheep and Cattle; three large Flats for use on the Canal. The Subscriber, Executor of the last Will of NATHANIEL ALLEN, deceased, offered the before-mentioned property for sale, on a credit of six, twelve, and eighteen months, the purchaser giving bond with approved security. Any person inclined to purchase this most valuable property may see a map of it, and the country adjoining with the Rivers and Lakes, by applying to JOHN GRANBERY, ESQ. of Norfolk, or to JOSIAH COLLINS, ESQ., at Edenton. If the above property is not disposed of at Private Sale before the 11th of December ensuing, it will on that day be sold at Public Vendue, in the town of Edenton. In case of it being disposed of at private sale, Notice will be given. Application by letter or otherwise, requiring information as to the price, etc., of this property, will be duly attended to.
