STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA    COURT OF EQUITY     CHOWAN COUNTY
March Term, 1808

WELLS COOPER
    vs.
THE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTORS OF THE DISMAL SWAMP CANAL COMPANY

WALTER HERON and THOMAS MORRAN, surviving partners of WILLIAM PLUME & Co., 
having failed to put in thier answer in the above suit; and it being 
represented to the Court that they are not inhabitants of this State, it is 
ordered that four weeks public notice be given the Edenton Gazette, that 
unless they appear and put in their answer before the first Monday after the 
fourth Monday in September next, judgment pro confesso will be entered up 
against them.
                          Teste.
