Chowan County, NC - John Pipkin Indenture ----¤¤¤---- 678 - Pipkin to Gaffin - 19th June 1730 This indenture made this 19th Feb 1730 between Jno Pipkin of Chowan Precinct of the one part and Charles Gaffin of the same Precinct of ye other part witnesseth ye the sd Jno Pipkin for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty barrells of Tarr in hand paid the rest whereof is hereby acknowledg'd hath bargained, sold and by these presents doth bargain & sell unto the sd Charles Gaffin all ye Messuage Tract and Tract and Plantation of Land scittuated in the upper part of Chowan Precinct & the reversion & reversion remainder & remainders of all & singular the premises & every part & parcell thereof & the rents issues & profits to the same belonging or appertaining. To have and to hold the sd Messuage land, Tenem't & Hereditarn't with all & every the premises whatsoever hereby bargain'd or sold unto the sd Charles Griffin his heirs and assigns for ever & also all estate & estate right Title use interest possession property on demand at soever of him the sd Jno Pipkin to the only use & venefit of the sd Charles Gaffin his heris and assigns for ever absolutely with any maner or condition or redemption in any wise & the sd Jno Pipkin doth coven't and grant to & with the sd Chas Gaffin his heirs and assigns by these presents that he the sd Chas Gaffin his heirs and assignes and their farmers and tenents shall or lawfully may farm time to time and at all times forever hereafter freely quieting and peaceably have and hold occupy possess enjoy all and singular the sd close messuage and permises with all and singular their apurts belonging as followeth: Begining at a water oak in Niclin Swamp the beginning of the Pattent line then runing up the Pattent line to a Path, Called Alexander Carters path then along the sd path by a line of mark'd trees to a branch call'd Pipkin's clearing Branch to a pine then down the sd branch to a broad branch call'd the broad Branch then down the broad branch to Mill Swamp to a white oak then down the sd swamp to the first station containing the whole one Hundred acres & every the rents, issues profitts & comodities thereof & of every part and parcell thereof have & take with out any maner of lett suit trouble disturbance or other molestation whatt so ever of him the sd Jno Pipkin his heirs assigns or demand in the sd premises or any part of parcell thereof. And the sd Jno Pipkin and his heirs the sd Messauge Tenem't tract and plantation of land with the apurts unto the sd Chas Gaffin and his heirs and assigns against him the sd Jno Pipkin and his heirs shall and will forever defend by these presents.
