Written: 1716

North Carolina ss. At a Councill holden at the house of Captain John Pettiver 
in Pequimons on Thursday the 15th day of Novbr. 1716. Present the Honorable 
Charles Eden Esqr. Governor Captain Generall and Admirall. The Honorable Nath. 
Chevin, Wm Reed, T. Knight Esqrs. Lds. Proprietors Deputys.

Upon petition of Gerrard Luich and Katherine his wife relict of Henry King 
deceased praying that dividers may be appointed to divide the estate of the 
said Henry King. 

Ordered that John Hardy Esqr., Captain David Henderson, Lewis Brian and Thos. 
West or any three of them doe make an equal division of all the Negroes goods 
and chattells that were of the said Henry King into three equal parts and that 
then the said Katherine have her first choyce of one third thereof and that 
then the said dividers do divide the remaining two thirds equally between the 
several children of the said Henry King the eldest takeing his first choyce 
and so proceeding to the youngest and that the said Gerrard Luich doe at the 
next precint court held for Chowan precint give good and sufficient security 
for such parts of the said estate as shall be due to such young children as 
remaines under the care of him the said Gerrard and Catherine.
