Deed of Gift: Joel & Mary Forehand to Mary Elizabeth Forehand Twine, 1868

This indenture made and entered unto this the 24th day of February AD 1868; 
between Joel Forehand and wife Mary Forehand of the first part and, Mary 
Elizabeth Twine the wife of Alfred Twine and daughter of the said Joel 
Forehand and wife Mary Forehand of the second part.  All of the County of 
Chowan and State of North Carolina.  Witnesseth that we the said Joel 
Forehand and wife Mary Forehand, for and and in consideration of the 
natural love and affection of the said Mary Elizabeth Twine hath given, 
granted, and by these present do give and grant unto the said Mary E Twine 
her heirs and offings a certain piece or partial of land situated in the 
County and State aforesaid. Except we keep to ourselves  any timber of said 
land we may wish during our lifetime. Beginning at a dead pine a corner in 
Charlotte Evans line then along said Evans line to Jacob Jordans line and 
adjoining the land of Elisha Twine and others containing  50 acres to have 
and to hold the aforesaid tract of land with all the improvements and  
______  unto the said Mary E Twine her heirs and offings forever and the 
said Joel Forehand and wife Mary Forehand do for ourselves our heirs our 
offings forever warrant and defend the right, title and interest of said 
land against all lawful claims of any and all persons whatsoever unto the 
said Mary E Twine her heirs her offings forever in witness we hereunto set 
our hands and seals you with the day and date above.
