Chowan County, NC - Deeds - Edward Hocott and wife to Richard Malepass File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Lorene Rambo hocott@aol.com ========================= Deeds of Chowan Precinct, Book F, p. 28 (Microfilm #1730346) Edward Hocott and wife to Richard Malepass This indenture made the Eighteenth day of April in the year of our Lord God Seventeen Hundred and twenty Between Edward Howcott of the precinct of Chowan in the County of Albemarle in the province of North Carolina and Thamer his wife of the one part and Richard Malepass of the precinct, county,and province aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth: that the said Edward Howcott for and in consideration of forty pounds sterling to him in hand paid by Richard Malepass aforesaid the receipt whereof the aforesaid Edward Howcott doth hereby acknowledge and of every part and parcel thereof doth hereby . . . and discharge the said Richard Malepass his heirs and assigns forever. Have given granted bargained sold and by these presents do fully clearly and absolutely give grant bargain alein and sell all that part and parcel of land lying and being on the north side of Neuse River. Beginning at a white oak on the head of Gatlin Creek thence north 15 degrees and east 40 pole to a white oak, thence north 50 degrees E 200 poles to a Hickory at a ______ side line, thence north 85 degrees west 120 pole to a Red Oak, thence S 16 degrees East 340 pole to a pine in Lappins line thence along his line North ____ degrees East ____ pole to the first statin Containing three hundred and ninety acres of land. To have and to hold the said land bargained and sold as aforesaid unto the said Richard Malepass his heirs and assigns forever with all the rights members and appurtenances thereof forever with all the Houses Orchards Gardens arable Grounds Wood Land Grounds Waters and water courses and all other liberties and privileges therein and thereon contained and the said Edward Howcott and Thamer his wife for them their executors and administrators do promise and warrant that at the ensealing and delivery hereof they have a good right full power and lawful authority to bargain and sell the same unto the said Richard Malepass his heirs and assigns forever and by these presents . . .
