Know ye that I Edward Howcott for divers good _____ and considerations me thereunto moving but more especially for the valuable consideration of forty three pounds in hand paid or secured to be paid before the ensealing of these presents . . . . . . therefore sells "all that my plantation and tract of Land that which I bought of John Robertson the which Land he surveyed and pattented in his name and assigned it over to the said Edward Howcott. One hundred and seventy acres of the said land Situate lying and being in Rockahock neck in Chowan Precinct unto Francis Branch his Heirs Executors or Administrators and assigns forever being bounded as by the aforesaid pattent . . . with all fencing Gardens and orchards with allwoods and woodland ground arable and pastures grounds timber and timber trees standing lying and growing or in any manner appertaining To Have and To Hold . . . guarantees free title and use I bind myself my heirs, etc. in the sum of one hundred pounds current money of England.
