Chowan County, NC - Deeds - Edward and Thamer Howcott to Charles Sowell Dated 17th day of April 1721 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Lorene Rambo hocott@aol.com ========================= Deeds of Chowan Precinct, Book F, p. 96 (LDS Microfilm #1730346) Edward and Thamer Howcott to Charles Sowell Dated 17th day of April 1721 Between Edward Howcott of precinct of Chowan and Tamer his wife and Charles Sowell of said precinct paid seventy and five pounds sterling "all the part and parcell of Land lying and Being in Chowan precinct Begining at a marked white oak by Chowan river position being one of Richard Sowell his corner thence north eighty degrees West three hundred and twelve poles to a pine thence south 37 degrees west three hundred and seventy poles to the corner of two pines and a red Oak then south 80 degrees east 220 pole to the corner of a Maple Sweet Gum and a Poplan in Chowan river pocosin, thence the meander of the pocosin to the first station, which tract of land contains six hundred and fourty Acres as by pattent. . ." To Have and to Hold . . . unto him the said Charles Sowell his heirs and assigns forever excepting one hundred acres of Land being part of the said tract of Land which is already sold unto Daniel ______. . . Clear title and use guaranteed to Charles Sowell . . . Edward appeared. John Jordon by power of attorney represented Thamer. She relinquished her right of dower to said land. Recorded 2nd Tuesday in April 1821.
