You are to forthwith lay out for. Wm. Downing 640 acres Observing etc Lords 
etc. Given 1720.

Survey'd by Vertue of ye within warrant 640 acres of land For Wm Downing 1720.

His Excell'y Jno. Ld. Carteret  Pal'n. etc. To all etc. Doe. give etc. grant 
unto Wm. Downing a tract of Land Cont'ning  640 acres lying in Chowan Precinct 
on ye N E Side of ye river beg'ing at a point of Marsh on ye mouth of Bennets 
Creek running up ye various courses of ye said river to a smale Creek opposite 
to Wickcoms Creek then running up ye So-most branch of ye Creek to ye head 
ye ...12 to Bennets Creek y'en down ye various Courses of Bennets Creek to ye 
first Station.

Being due etc. To have & to hold etc. Yielding & paying etc. Yearly etc. Fee 
rent of one Shilling for every Fifty Acres etc. Provided etc. Given Etc. 
December ye 3/ 1720.
