I James Singleton & Annarita my wife of Scuppernung in ye Precinct of Chowan in North Carolina Planter Sends Greetings. Know ye qt I James Singleton & Annaritta my whife for & in Consideration of qd sum of Twenty Seven pounds Current money of this Province to him In hand pd before ye Insealing & Delivery of these presents by Jos: Turner in ye Precinct & province aforesaid ye Recipt whereof to full Content and Sattisfaction he qe s'd James Singleton & Annarita his whife Doth by these presents acknowledge & thereof & of every part here of for himself his Heirs Exors Admins Doth acquitt Exonerate & Discharge ye s'd Jos: Turner His Heirs Exorts admons Every of them for ever by these presents and for divers good causes & Considerations him hereunto making he ye s'd James Singleton & Annaritta his whife hath Given granted Bargained Sold Alined Enfeofed Conveyed & Confirmed and by these presents Doth fully freely & Clearly & Absolutely Give grant Bargain sell alien Enfeofe Convey & Confirm unto ye s'd Jos. Turner his Heirs & afsignes forever a certaine tract of Land Containing One hundred acres being more or lefs Situated Lying & being in Scuppernong Commonly Known by ye name of ye Plains beginning att ye Reedy Branch and so along ye s'd Branch to a line of marked trees & so along ye Marked trees to qn Gumb Swamp & qn along ye s'd Swamp to ye first station.
