This file was contributed by: Kathy Bartholomew Toavs Jan 2000 ========================================================================== WASHINGTON to WILLIAMS Deed (Chowan/Albemarle), 1717 CHOWAN COUNTY, NC, LAND DEEDS BOOK B1: p. 445, 16 Augst 1717 Know all men by these presents yt I Rd WASHINGTON of the County of Albemarle in North Carolina for & in Consideration of ye Valuable Sum of money to me in hand pd before ye Sealing and delivery of these presents by ARTHUR WILLIAMS of Virginia wth which I acknowledge by Self fully Satisfyıd Have bargained Sold Alienated Sett over & do by these presents for me and my Heirs for ever bargain Sell U& Deliver Enfeof Transfer & Confirm unto the sd ARTHUR WILLIAMS his Heris & Assignes forever, a Certain Tract of Dividend of Land Containing One hundred acres beign part of a Patent for 550 acres which I purchased of HENRY WHEELER & was to him granted by Pattent Scittuate on the South Side of Meherrin River in the County afsd Beginning at the mouth of the Run of the Grag branch & up the Same to a Pine & so by a Line of Markıd trees up to the Extent of the Content of One hundred acres ye bredth of the Land being as followeth from ye mouth of the first namıd Grag branch up the River over y! e first & to ye mouth of the Second Small branch from ye Grag branch about a Quarter of a mile & up the sd branch to the head thereof thence a line of markıd trees as is before namıd of ye Grag branch to Incline an Hundred Acres. To have & to hold the sd Tract of Land with all Houses Orchards Gardains woods ways & waters with all other Rights & Priviledges profitts comoditys & advantages wtsover to the sd Land belonging or in any ways appertaining to him the sd ARTHUR WILLIAMS his Herirs & Assignes for ever in as full & ample maner, to all Intents & pruposes as ye Same can be Enjoyıd by Vertue of Pattent or otherways or as the most Learnıd in the Law can devise. And I do hereby further Covenant promise & agree to with the sd ARTHUR WILLIAMS his Heirs & Assignes yt ye sd Land & every part therof is free from all maner of former & other Gifts Grants bargains Sales Joyntures Dowers Uses Wills Intails Annuitys Mortgages Judgements & Executions & all Maner of Incumbrances wtsover. And yt I have at the time of the Ensealing & Delivery hereof in & to all & singular ye promises a good pure & Indefeasible Estate of Inheritance in ye wch I hereby Transfer & oblige my Self my Heirs Exs. & admns.
