American Revolution Pension Papers

#7672.  Peter Parker, 75, applied 26 September 1832, Stewart Co., Tn.

After being duly sworn, ... - I was drafted in Chowan Co., NC, I think, in 
April or May 1776, under Gen. Ash, Col Peter Dozier alias Peter Douge and a 
Major Wynn Gayle was elected Capt. but for some reason he was removed and Hill 
was made Captain in his stead. Simon Stelling was lieutenant...
Was discharged at Wilmington, NC.
Drafted a second time at Edenton, NC under Capt Joseph Whidby; Capt. James 
Howett or Harrett of Terrell Co.
Marched to a place, then called the North West Bridge in Va.; were called 
twice or oftener to Edmonds Hill. While at Edmonds Hill, the Regular troops 
commanded by Col. Parker took the Great Bridge near Norfolk Va....
Was drafted a third time at Edentown, but peace was proclaimed and the Army 
discharged without marching out - Col. James Blount of Chowan Co. was with the 
troops the time I went from Chowan Co. NC.
In answer to various questions: 
I was born in Chowan Co., NC the 19th May 1757.
I have no record of my age in this county - my age was recorded in my father's 
Bible and in in Chowan Co., NC
I was living in Chowan Co., NC when called into the service.  I have only 
lived in Sumner Co., Tn, except a few months in Wilson Co., Tn, until I moved 
to Stewart Co., Tn in 1836 and I still live in Stewart Co., Tn
I was drafted on each occasion. I never substituted
The Regulars at Wilmington were commanded by General Moore - Colonel Parker 
was said to have the command of 1500 Regulars at or near the North West Bridge 
in Va. and Griffin Donge? was adjutant at that place - I know the names of no 
other officers except those I have named and the general circumstances of my 
service, I have already stated.
