Edenton Gazette July 6, 1810

   1810	EDENTON FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION
   This day, ever memorable in the annals of our Country, was ushered in by 
the firing of one gun. In the forenoon the Volunteer and Artillery Companies 
paraded. The former, together with the inhabitants of this place, at the 
ringing of the Bell, sat down to a sumptuous dinners, at their own board. The 
Artillery Company, commanded by CAPT. ELLIOTT, dined at Strawberry-Hill. After 
the cloth was removed a number of toasts were drunk, attended with a discharge 
of Artillery. No accident occurred to disturb the harmony and Tranquility of 
the day.
