Edenton Gazette,   Feb. 23, 1810 February 23, 1810
               SPORTING!
   Will be run over my course, on the second Friday and Saturday in March, 
1810, one and two mile heats, free for any nag in Gates, Perquimans or Chowan 
Counties (owned in said Counties three months previous to running) not known 
as a horse of running fame, or as having won over $100 Dollars in any one race.
   Two Purses, which will be worth sporting for, subject to the rules and 
[condition] of the course.-- The first day, one-mileheats, entrance 10 
dollars. The second, two mile heats, entrance 15 dollars.
   Toll will be exacted at the gates as follows: For every foot man, 12-1/2 
cents; horse, 25 cents, chair, 50 cents; which will be thrown into the purse 
of that day.
