HAUGHTON, ESQ., one of our most worthy and enterprising citizens, and we are sorry to say, that the circumstances of the case leave little or no doubts in our mind, that he, with three of his valuable Negroes, have found a watery grave. MR. HAUGHTON, we umderstand, left his residence in this County, on last Monday week, in a row-boat with two Negroes for Plymouth, with the intention of returning home next day. He visited Plymouth and on Tuesday left that place and on his return homeward, called at his farm in Washington County with the view of getting some articles which were wanting on his farm in this County; this being done, he resumed his journey homewards, taking with him his three Negroes, before mentioned, although he overseer strongly remonstrated against it, in consequence of the boat being too deeply loaded, and the wind blowing very rapidly. In consideration of the continuance of high winds, which began on Monday evening and lasted until Wednesday, MR. HAUGHTON'S absence did not create much uneasiness in his family until Thursday, as they, no doubt, hoped he had not continued his journey under such unfavorable weather, but alas! delusive hope. On enquiry being made, it was ascertained that he had, left his farm in Washington, as above stated, and the conclusion was and is up to this time that he, with the Negroes, have perished. Search being made on Sunday last, the boat, his trunk and some other articles were found upset in the bay. Neither of the bodies so far as we know have yet been found. There having been no arrival at this port from the Bar, since the blow of the 21st and 22nd inst., we are left in fearful apprehension to the shipping in that quarter.
