NEWPORT NEWS - Carolyn 'Faye' Layden Bailey, 69, passed away Saturday, Jan. 
17, 2009. She was a native of Chowan Co., N.C., and had been a resident of the 
Peninsula for 49 years. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Louise 
Layden.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, two brothers, Dickie Layden and 
wife, Frances, Clyde Layden; a sister, Joyce Bunch; son, Wayne Taylor and his 
wife, Randi; daughters, Nancy Coates and her husband, Kevin, Annette Angle and 
her husband, Kevin; five grandchildren, Jamie Shoemaker and her husband, 
Dickie, Casey, Leslie and Sam Coates; three great-grandchildren, Taylor and 
Addyson Shoemaker, Camden Coates; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She 
will be greatly missed by family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Peninsula Funeral 
Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 
2009, at the funeral home, by Pastor Darren Anderson, with burial to follow in 
Peninsula Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff and doctors at Mary 
Immaculate Hospital for their help, compassion and care.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mary Immaculate Hospital.
Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
