                     OBITUARY OF SARAH FRANCES BOND
                         Edenton Newspaper 1882

Departed this life after lingering illness at her residence in  Edenton, 
August 30th. Mrs. Sallie F. Bond, relict of the late S. T. Bond, in the 
68th year of her age.  In the death of Mrs. Bond, the community in which 
she has lived through her long life, has lost one of its oldest and most 
esteemed members.  Her gentle and amiable life was an illustration of all 
the lovely traits of female character.  In the domestic circle she was 
kind, affectionate, unselfish and sympathising, in her social relations she 
was cordial and sincere, to the poor and afflicted she was tender, open-
handed and charitable; and to the stranger that entered her gate she 
extended a generous hospitality.  Descended from one of the old Chowan 
families, she was a worthy representative of the virtues of her lineage.  
She was one of the few dissolving links connecting the past with the 
present.  Her death is greatly lamented by those who loved or knew her and 
by her devoted family. She leaves a wide circle of friends.
