Thurs., March 3, 1831  Edenton Gazette
   DIED, in Edenton on Tuesday morning last, after a lingering illness, MR. 
WILLIAM GRIMES, a native of the County of Bertie, but for many years past a 
resident of Edenton.
   MR. GRIMES had for a long time, held the office of County Jailor and Town 
Constable, and although in these situations, calculated as they naturally are, 
to produce enemity and ill will, such has been the line of his conduct and 
such has been the line of his conduct, and such the promptness of his action, 
as to challenge the approbation of every good citizen and induce them all to 
ask, "Where shall we find a successor?"
