A native of Chowan County, N.C., he was the son of the late Norah Edward Jordan and Mattie Ward Jordan. Mr. Jordan was a retired farmer having farmed for more than 60 years. He was a member of Holy Neck Unite Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon, was active in the Men’s Bible Class, the Layman’s Fellowship, and served on the church finance committee. He was also a member and past master of the McAllister Masonic Lodge No. 185 A.F. & A.M., a member of the Southampton Scottish Rites Bodies, Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies, Khedive Shrine Temple and was a charter member of the Holy Neck Ruritan Club. Mr. Jordan was appointed by Governor George Allen to the Virginia Agricultural Council and had the largest peanut production in Nansemond County in 1972. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gladys Goodwin Jordan and two brothers, McIhrie Jordan and L.B. Jordan. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Green Jordan of Suffolk; daughter and son-in-law Debbie J. and Curt Angstadt of Richmond, Va.; sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald D. Jordan of Suffolk, Danny Green of Hobbsville, N.C., and Doug and Laura Green of Gates, N.C.; grandchildren, Nicholas Jordan, David Joran Angstadt, Danielle Green, Angela Green, Daniel Green, Dana Green, and Michelle Green, sisters, Nina Byrum of Tyner, N.C., and Mildred Knott of Oxford, N.C.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rudolph and Sallie Marie Jordan of Hobbsville, N.C., Eugene and Vivian Jordan of Tyner, Graydon and Evelyn Jordan of Beaufort, N.C.; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Jordan of Corapeake, N.C. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Neck United Church of Christ by the Rev. Scott Fuller. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Masonic rites will be accorded at the grave by McAllister Masonic Lodge No. 185 A.F.& A.M. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Sidney F.
