LEARY DIES SUDDENLY THURSDAY Ross Ihrie Leary died suddenly at his home in Clay Street early yesterday morning death occurring about 1:45 o’clock following an illness of only a few hours. Funeral services will be held from Emmanuel Episcopal Church here Saturday afternoon at one o’clock, conducted by the Rector, Rev. J. Sutherland- Watt, assisted by Dr. Robert Lee Drane of Edenton, N.C., and interment will be made in the family burying ground at Edenton about four o’clock. Mr. Leary, who was in his 72nd year, was a native of Edenton, coming to Franklin many years ago and being for several years editor of the “Blackwater Courier,” predecessor of “The Graphic,” which the Tidewater news succeeded. He removed from Franklin a number of years ago but returned here to make this town his home about four years ago. He is survived by his wife; by one son, R.I. Leary, Jr., of Washington and four daughters, Mrs. Calvert Moore of Jacksonville; Fla., Mrs. G.F. Matthews and Mrs. W.B. Walters of Portsmouth and Miss Blanche Leary of Edenton.
