LLOYD EDWARD MONDS

GATES, N.C. – Lloyd Edward Monds, 80, of Hackley Road, died Sept. 16 in Roanoke-
Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, N.C.

Mr. Monds was born in Chowan County, N.C. and was the son of the late James 
Edward and Sallie Ann Lodge Monds. Retired from the pulp mill department of 
Union Camp, now International Paper in Franklin, he was an Army veteran of World 
War II.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Maggie Casper Monds; four daughters, 
Mary David and husband Lon of Courtland, Doris Marks and husband Tony of Oxford, 
N.C., Pauline Legg and husband Wilbur of Eure, N.C. and Joyce Hobbs and husband, 
Al of Hobbsville, N.C.; two sons, Ray Monds and friend Maureen of Edenton, N.C., 
and David Monds and friend Rita of Tyner, N.C.; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-
grandchildren.

Graveside services were to be held Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. in Warwick Baptist Church 
Cemetery, Hobbsville. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, N.C. is assisting the 
family with arrangements. Friends were to join the family at the residence or in 
the social hall of the church following services.
