Communication

Departed this life on the 17th October, at the residence of Mr. James Carney 
after a sever illness which she bore with the patience and fortitude of a 
Christian, Mrs. Mary Vail, in the 53d year of her age. She formerly resided in 
Chowan County near Edenton, but for a short time past was a citizen of this 
town. The sudden & unexpected death of Mrs. Vail carries home to the bosom of 
all her friends and acquaintance, heart-cutting sorrow. As an acquaintance, 
none was more agreeable - as a friend, none more sincere. She was an 
affectionate parent, and a good mistress - and possessed a sweetness of manner 
and dignity of deportment, that excited the admiration of her acquaintance and 
secured the love of her friends.  

The loss of this inestimable woman will long, very long be remembered with the 
deepest regret, by her weeping relatives but we trust, through the mercies of 
a crucified and dear Redeemer, that her spirit has found it way to that place 
of rest, appointed for the people of God.
