She had been in ill health for a number of years and had been confined to her bed for several weeks. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Bowers Wiggins of Southampton County, and widow of John R. Wheeler, with whom she moved to Edenton about forty years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Clara Wheeler of Edenton and Mrs. Raymond Carr of Radburn, N.J.; two sons, Col. Richard B. Wheeler and Sergt. John W. Wheeler, both of whom are overseas, five sisters, Mrs. Alice Branch, Mrs. C.B. Norfleet, Mrs. J.F. Kitterman and Mrs. Effie Lankford, all of Norfolk, and Mrs. J.L. Freeman of Carrsville; and three brothers, Jasper L. Wiggins of Edenton, J.E. Wiggins of Sunbury, and I.Q. Wiggins of Franklin. Funeral services were held at the Edenton Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock, with the pastor, Rev. E.L. Wells, in charge. Burial was in the family plot in the Edenton cemetery.
