Chowan County, NC - Will of John Asbill, 1796 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Last Will and Testament of John Asbill Recorded in Book A Page 291 Chowan Co. 1796 In the name of god Amen To all persons to hume these presents shall Cross I John Asbill of the County of Chowan and the provance of North Carolina (______ planter?) send greting Know ye that I Being Very weak but of perfect mind & sound memory and god's judgements for the same I do make and ordain this to be my Last will and testament in maner and forme following in the first plase it is my will that all my last debts and berial Expenses Bee first paid By my Exector hear after named in the first plase I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife the use and benefit of my Land and plantation During her natural life or widow hood After her Deseas the Land to Bee Equal Divided Between my two sons James Asbill & Cornelius Asbill Item I give and Bequeath to my son James Asbill one gun which I give unto him and his heirs for Ever Item I give the Remaner part of my Estate To my wife & after she is deseas that to be Equal divideed amongst my children after my wife deseas namly Ann Asbill, Judah Asbill, James Asbill, Elizabeth Asbill, Rachel Asbill, Cornelius Asbill which I give untothem and their ares for Ever After paying all my just debts nad funerial Expenses unto my said wife and my son James Asbill which I appoint to be my hole and sole Exectors of my Last will and testament I do hear by desove all other former testaments or Legises which I do acknolege this to be m Last will and testament and no others as witness my hand and seale This 29 Day of July 1796 his Test.
