Will of James Braddy, 1750 Chowan County, NC In the name of God Amen. August the seventeenth one thousand seven hundred and fifty I James Braddy of Chowan County being sick and weak of body but thanks be to almighty God of a sound and perfect mind and memory calling to mind the ..........life and that ...........when it please God to call I make this my last will and testament in manor and form following....... and....... I give and bequeath my soul unto the hands of almighty God, who give it hoping in and through the .....and passion of my blessed savior Jesus Christ to have full and free ......and forgive of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life in the world to come. Committ my body to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my .......hereafter named and a ......of all my worldly goods. Item I give and bequeath to my sons John Braddy and Joseph Braddy all the land that I bought of John Odom lying on.both sides of the branch called Lady of....branch, the south side of the branch of the said branch to the head and from the head to a line to my son John Braddy and the north side joining on the said branch and line to my son Joseph Braddy. I pray I give to my two sons John Braddy and Joseph Braddy to them and their heirs for ever. Item I give and bequeath to my son James Braddy the plantation where I now live and all the lands belonging to it Only his mother to have the ...of half the plantation and land and....during her natural life or widiwhood I pray I give the said plantation and land to my son James Braddy to him and his heirs forever only his motheršs priviledges prevail. Item I give and bequeath by Grandson james Connor the plantation and all the land belonging to it on the mill swamp called.....swamp I give to my grandson James Connor to him and his heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to my son James Braddy and my son Joseph Braddy a piece of land I have in Fort Island I say I give to them and thier heirs forever.
