[Note: the archives record for this will does not specify a county and the will itself is extremely hard to decipher. Both Mitchells's "North Carolina Wills: A Testator Index" and Grimes's "Abstract of North Carolina Wills" give the county as Chowan. Grimes's abstract of this will doesn't mention two of Thomas's sons, William and Edward, but their names are definitely included in the will] Written: 1 Apr 1718 Proved: 21 Oct 1718 Witnesses: Judeth and Thomas Perry Wife: Christian Sons: Thomas, Edward, William, Howell, James and John Brown Daughter: Sarah Mackdaniel (or MacDonel, per Grimes) Additional Comments: Thomas's son, Edward Brown, was the founder of the Great Cohary Baptist Church in what is now Sampson County. Edward died in Duplin County in 1783.
