This file was contributed by: Ben Askew, Jr. ========================================================================== Transcribed from the Original Located in the State Archives, Raleigh, NC By Ben Askew, Jr. Will of Cornelius Forehand, 1904 In the name of God, Amen I Cornelius Forehand of the County of Chowan and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail transitory life do therefore make, ordain, publish, and declare this to be my last Will and Testament that is to say: First-I loan to my wife my Modkie Forehand, in lieu of her dower interest in my estate. The west end of the field were I now live to the middle ditch. Twenty acres more for less, parallel with ditch to back line to her her lifetime, and then I give and bequeath same to Dossy Cornelias Forehand. Second-To my daughter Doria Virginia Saunders, I give and bequeath the east end of the field were I now live to the middle ditch, adjoining the piece above mentioned and all my swamp land adjoining Henry Saunders and others consisting of eight acres more for less. Third-To John Calvin Forehand and William Gurney Forehand I give and bequeath to be equally divided between them my entire track of land in Poplar Neck, adjoining the lands of E Burkes estate, Henry Welch and others, with the exception of the small piece which I bought of L D Chappell. Likewise, I make, constitute and appoint William Kemby Lane to be executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
