This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Vikki Highfield ======================================================================== Will of Abner Hollowell Oct. 17, 1802 In the name of God Amen I ABNER HOLLOWELL of the Province of North Carolina & County of Chowan being weak in Body but of perfect sound mind & Memory Thanks be to Almighty God for the favor do make Constitute and Ordain this my last will & Testament in manner & form as followeth Viz't: Item - I Give & bequeath unto my son LUKE HOLLOWELL one Hundred & fifty three acres of land whereon he now lives & any other Articles which he has alredy in his Possession & after my decease I give unto him his heirs forever on feather bed with appertances belonging. Item - I Give & bequeath unto my son JOHN HOLLOWELL one hundred and fifty acres of Land whereon I new Dwell one feather Bed & furniture 1 Puter bason two Pewter plates and one Gun, 1 Whip Saw which he has alredy in his possession which I give to him & his heirs for ever & one Desk to him & his heirs for ever. Item - I give & bequeath unto my son ABNER HOLLOWELL one Negro Boy by the name of Josiah one feather Bed & furniture one Pewter Bason and Pewter Dish & three Pewter Plates one _____ which he got already in his Possession which I give unto him and his heirs for ever. Item - I give and bequeath unto my Son MOSES HOLLOWELL one Negro Girl by the Name of Betty and after my decease a Negro man named Ben one feather Bed & furniture one Pewter Bason one Pewter Dish & three Pewter Plates one Iron Pot & Hooks 1 Horse Bridles & Saddle 1 Gun which I give unto him & his heirs forever. Item - I give unto my Daughter RACHEL WELCH one feather bed & furniture one Pewter Dish one Bason & three Plates which she has got in her possession which I give unto her & her heirs for Ever. Item - I give & bequeath unto my Daughter RHODA BUNCH one feather Bed & furniture one Pewter Disk one Bason & three Plates which the sd RHODA BUNCH has got in her Possession I give unto her & her heirs forever. Item - I give and bequeath unto my Daughter SARAH WELCH one feather Bed and furniture one pewter Bason and Pewter Dish three plates and one Loom & gear which she has got already in her possession which I give unto her & her heirs for ever. Item - I give and bequeath unto my three Daughters after my decease namely RACHEL WELCH, RHODA BUNCH & SARAH WELCH one Negro Girl by the name of Rachel & her increase to be equally divided among them and their heirs for ever desiring that the same Girl named Rachel may not be sold out of the family and the Purchase of thereon may have Nine Months Credit to pay each heir their equal part unto the other sisters & their heirs. Item - I give & bequeath unto my four Sons LUKE, JOHN, ABNER, MOSES HOLLOWELL three Negroes namely Betty, Nan & Kadar to be equally divided among them & their heirs for ever desiring that the same Negroes may not be sold out of the family the Purchase of the same having Nine months to pay the other Heirs their equal shares & if any of the Heirs either Male or female should not be agreeable thereto & shall be put off which what part or parts as are forementioned & no more. Item - I Constitute & Appoint my two sons JOHN HOLLOWELL and MOSES HOLLOWELL my whole and Sole Executors of this my last will & Testament as Witness my hand and Seal this 17 Day of October 1802.
