This file was contributed by: Dixie Briggs Oct 1999 ========================================================================== From the NC Raleigh Archives WILL OF ANNE/ANNA LUTEN, 1815 In the name of God amen I Anne Luten of the Town of Edenton, County of Chowan State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory do make, publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament in manner and form following - In the first place I give and bequeath to my Son Henry Luten one bed, bedstead and furniture and one bureau. 2nd I give and bequeath to my Son Henry Luten one half, or the note proceeds, of my real estate on his attaining the age of twenty two years of age --- hereafter mentioned---- 3rd I give and bequeath to the children of my daughter Elisabeth Brooks the ---.proceeds of the other moiety of my real estate on Henry Luten attaining the age of twenty two years as before mentioned to be disposed of in like manner and it is my will and desire that my executor may pay over to the said daughter Elisabeth Brooks or to her ... the aforesaid mentioned property for the use of her children, to be given them on their arriving to the age of sixteen---- 4th It is my will and desire that on Henry Luten arriving to the age of twenty two that the whole of my real estate shall be sold in such manner as my executor shall deem most advantageous and I hereby vest him with full power to act in the distribution of said estate as he may think best for the interest of the legatees---to sell either at public or private sales and I wish the property to be rented out untill sold and the amount of the rest divided as before mentioned between my children--- 5th I authorize my Executor to purchase the ground on which my house stands situated on Broad Street, belonging to the Estate of Doctor John Beasley, deceased, if he should think it to the interest of my estate 6th and lastly I nominate and appoint John M. Roberts my whole and sole executor giving him full power to act in every respect as his judgement may direct hereby revoking all other wills by me made.
