I Henderson Luton of the County of Chowan being of sound and perfect mind and memory (blefsed be God)) do this sixteenth day October in the year of our Lord one hundred seven hundred ninety one, make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner followng, that is to say. First I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah Luton, my best horse and chair, one side saddle, 4 cows & calves, 1 pair oxen, one choice beef, all my hogs and sheep, also my hop on the ground, all my household furniture and plantation tools. I likewise give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Sarah Luton, during her natural life, one negro woman named Phillis, and after her death to be sold and equally divided among my children. I also give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Sarah Luton, the tract of land where I now live, containing one hundred & fifty acres more or lefs during her life and after her death to be equally divided between my Sons, Ephriam and James Luton. I give and bequeath also unto my daughter, Penelope Luton, one hundred acres land that I bought of Abel Millen joining my house plantation. I also give and bequeath unto my two sons, Ephraim and James Luton, to be equally divided between them one hundred & twenty five acres land more or lefs, lying in the great Marsh joining Michael McKeits' land. I also leave my negro fellow Dick and negro wench Nan to be hired out for the maintenance of my children until my daughter Penelope Luton comes to the age of sixteen, then the above two negros with their increase to be equally divided between them. And all the remainder of my Property herein not mentioned to be sold for the purpose of discharging my just and lawful debts, and the overplus arising from said sale I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah Luton; And I hereby make and ordain my worthy friend Mr. William Boritz & Mr. Malachi Millen, wth my beloved wife Sarah Luton Executors of this my last Will & Testament. And I hereby disallow, revoke, and disannul all, and every other former wills, legacies, testaments & Executors by me in any ways before named, wills and bequeaths, ratifying and confrming this to be my last Will and Testament; In witnefs whereof the said Henderson Luton have to this my last Will & Testament set my hand & seal the day and year within written.
