Will of Marmaduke Norfleet

Hallifax County

     In the name of God Amen I Marmaduke Norfleet of the county and Province 
aforesaid Being Weak in Body but of sound memory Blesed be God doe make ordain 
Constitute and appoint this my last Will and Testament Hereby revoking and 
disannulling all others and this only to be my last Will and Testament in 
manner and form following that is to say.

First I give unto Each of John Youngs Children forty Shillings Virginia 
Currency for the Intent of Schooling them.

Item.  I give unto Each of Joshua Beals Children Forty Shillings Virginia 
money for the same Intent.

Item.  I give to my Sister Elisabeth Norfleet three Negros to wit. Boatswain, 
Isble [Isbel] and Nan and my silver Punch Bool and Tankard to her and her 
heirs for Ever.

Item.  I give to my Brother Lemuel Hogan my other three Negros to wit. Toney, 
Temey and Nanah and my still and worm to him and his heirs forever - and all 
the rest of my perishable Estate I give to be Equally Divided between my 
Sister Elisabeth Norfleet and my Brother Lemuel Hogan and I do appoint my 
Father in Law James Hogan my hole and sole Executor of this my last Will and 
Testament and do revoke all others in Witness hereof I here unto set my hand 
and seal this 29 day of June 1762.

Newbern      November 6th 1762

Personally appeared Thomas Kitchen a Subscribing Evidence to the above Will of 
Marmaduke Norfleet dec'd. and made Oath that he heard the above said Marmaduke 
Norfleet publish and declare the above writing to be and contain his last Will 
and Testament. At the same time Jas. Hogan the Exec. Therein Named took the 
Oath by law appointed for the Qualification of Executor.
