WILL OF SARAH SKINNER, 1834 In the name of God, amen: I, Sarah Skinner, widow of Josiah Skinner, dec'd of the county of Chowan and State of North Carolina, being at this time weak, slow in health, but of perfect and sound mind and memory do make and declare the following to be and contain my last will and testament viz It is my will and desire that the individual who is kind enough to administer upon my estate shall in the first place pay all my just debts by the sale of such of my property as shall be that most advisable to sell in case there should not be money and notes enough on hand to pay the same. I give, devise and bequeath unto my daughter, Sarah Frances Skinner two- thirds of all my property of every description after the payment of my debts, and except a bed and green bedstead which I hereby give and bequeath to my son Josiah Skinner. That is to say, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Frances Skinner two-thirds of my proportion or distributive share of the negroes or other property which would be allotted to me upon the division of the estate of my deceased husband Josiah Skinner, deceased which would fall to me upon a division of the same after the payment of his debts. I give devise and bequeath unto my sons Hardy H. Skinner and John Skinner and Josiah Skinner all the remaining one-third part of my proportion or distributive share of the estate of the said Josiah Skinner, deceased and of the said Samuel T. Skinner, deceased as well as our third part of all of my other property of every description equally to be divided between them share and share alike.
