Will of Thomas Spivey In the name of God Amen The Twenty third day of Desember and in the year of our Lord seventeen hundred twenty nine I Thomas Spivey senior living in North Carolina in the County of Albamarle in Chowan presink being weak in body but of sound and perfect memory praise Be given to Almity God forth____ same and knowing the incertainty of this life on earth and being desirous to settle things in order to make this my last Will and Testament in mannor and forme as following that is to say first and principally I command my soul to the Almighty God my creator assuredly believing that I shall receive full pardon and find remission of my sins and to be saved by the precious death and merits of my blessed savior and Redeemer Christ Jesus and my body to the Earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such decent and christian like manner as to my Exectuor hear&after named Shall be therg_ meet and convenient and as tuching such worldly Estates as the Lord in mercy hath Cent me my will and meaning is the same & shall be imployed and bestowed as here&after by this my will is expressed And first I revoke & renounce frustrate[?] and make void all Wills by me formerly made and do declare and appoint this onely to be my last Will and testament - - - Item I give and bequiuoth unto my son in law William Hill ninty acres of land more or less - - - to him his heirs for Ever beginning att marked gumm standing in the mouth of A branch caled the two pine branch and soo running up the said branch two the maine Rode & over the Rode two Another small branch and then Up that branch Rite across to my out side line and along the outside line to A marked pine --James Griffins corner tree - - - Item I give and bequiuoth unto my son Jacob Spivey my plantation where on I now live in during his life and afterwards to my grandson Jacob Spivey to him his heirs for Ever beginning upon a branch side at a oake and Runing as my son Jacob Spiveys paster fence now Runes his can[?] field soo Across his cane field to a line of marked trees and along that line to Charles Campbells line & soo a long his line to William Wessons line A long his line to my out side line and soo binding upon William Hill - - - Item I give and bequioth unto my daughter Mary Hill my cubord and my round tablee I Also give unto the said Mary Hill my grate Brass Cittoll and my grate Iron pott - - - Item I give and bequiuoth unto my gran daughter Sarah Hill one young Cow an Calf Item I give and bequiuoth unto my grandaughter Mary Hill one young cow and Calf Item I give and bequiuoth unto my gran daughter Susanah Hill one Yerling hefer Item I give and bequiuoth unto Marke Chapell one young cow and calf - - - I also give unto the said Marke Chapell two young sows and piggs - - - Item I give ont my Son Benjamine Spivey one Fether bed and Rugg I also give unto my son Benjamine my grate chist and my Chouch and a young Steare- Item I give and bequiuoth unto my Son Jacob Spivey my fether bed wheare on I lie ‹ I also give him my bed stead and all the furnature belonging theare unto - I also give the said Jacob Spivey my great Cheare - - - Item I give and bequioth unto my son Thomas Spivey ____ pence[?] and a Bible - - - Item I give and bequioth unto my son William Spivey ____ pence[?] and a Bible - and it is my will and desire that my son Jacob Spivey be my hole Executor of this my last will and testament as witness our hands the day month & year first above written Signed sealed in the presence of us Robert Blanshard Wm Wosson his marks Thomas Spivey his mark {seal} Hamal Man_____ North Carolina This day came before me ___ Robt Blanchard and on Oath proved this Will of Thos Spiveys according to Law this 5th of Feb 1729/10 Rehd Everarch[?] Tho Spivey Will letter granted Feb 7th 1729
