This file was contributed by: Grace Gleason Apr 2000 ========================================================================== George White, 1855 Transcribed by Grace Gleason from a photocopy of the Original Will made by Richard Rogerson (Page 1) Chowan County July 1853 I George White being impressed with the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death do declare this to be my last will and testament revoking all others. to wit Item 1st I give and bequeath to James Baker one cow, one sow and pigs, one feather bed and furniture. Item 2nd I give and bequeath to my grandson Isaih White one Dollar of my estate Item 3rd I give & bequeath to my grandson Martin White Four Dollars of my estate Item 4th I give & bequeath to my grand Daughter Milly Harrold Six Dollars of my estate Item 5th I direct that two notes now in the hands of Noah White against Josiah Byrum be collected and be equally divided between my children Abram White John White Noah White and Penelope White. Item 6th I give & bequeath to Milly Haste Fifty cents as her entire share of my estate. Item 7th I direct that my wife Mary White be supported out of my estate and give her one feather bed & furniture during her life. Item 8th I hereby appoint my son Noah White my executor of this my last Will & Testament and direct that he pay all my just debts out of the estate and the residue should there be any to be equally divided between my children Abram White, John White, Noah White and Penelope White. February Term 1855 The foregoing paper writing is produced in open Court and proved as the last Will & testament of George White Deceased by H. J. Starr one of the witnesses thereto who proves that he saw George White sign the same by affixing his mark thereto, that he declared the same at the same time to be his last Will and testament, that he was at the time aforesaid of sound and disposing mind & memory and that he the said witness H. J. Starr and Benjamin P. Small the other witness thereto signed the said paper writing as witnesses in the said George Whites presence and at his request as and for witnesses to his said last Will and testament. Ordered the same be and it is hereby admitted to probate as said George White¹s last Will and testament in form(?) to pass (?) real, personal and mixed estate.
