Davis Cemetery Located behind caretaker=s house at Jack Rabbit Campground on the well site. There are no marked graves. This is reportedly a cemetery of Slaves and Indians. If anyone knows more about this cemetery or those buried here, please contact me. FREUDENSTEIN Both were cremated. Ashes were scattered in the curve of the Pounding Mill Loop in the field under the walnut trees. Edward Bumcomb Chapter. Metal marker inscribed: Born 10 Feb 1765 Died 1863 Julia: A slave belonging to Robert Henry, buried next to him. She would not take her freedom when it was given to her. She stayed to serve Robert Henry. Julia was known in the Tusquittee area for her good Christian character. STILLWELL, Mattie 23 Mar 1922 25 Mar 1933 w/o "Buck" Stillwell Kitchens Cemetery The Kitchens Cemetery is located approximately one mile off Old 64 on Geiskie Creek Road (State Route 1164) in the Shooting Creek Community in a field on the farm of Leon Woodard. This was formerly know as "The Kitchens Farm". Mr. Woodard built a stout fence to enclose the area to keep the cattle out of the cemetery. There seems to be some fifteen graves with only four marked graves. It is assumed that some of the graves are for slaves since John Kitchens owned slaves and some of the graves could be other family members. Known to be buried there are: Kitchens, Jemima 21 Oct 1854 15 Jul 1855 9 mos. Old; First known burial Kitchens, John 7 Jul 1816 25 Jun 1864 Killed in the mountains while tending cattle Kitchens, Elizabeth 28 Dec 1827 2 Jun 1872 w/o John Kitchens Kitchens, Alice A. 6 Sep 1876 11 Nov 1876 d/o John David & Clarissa Kitchens Maney Camptown on Eagle Fork in the Shooting Creek Community. Formally know as the Rusell Fields Maney, Lorie B. 1914 D. 1919 d/o Harrison & Hattie Russell Maney Old Slave Cemetery The Old Slave Cemetery is located off Moore Drive at the end of Old Slave Drive. There are no marked graves. If anyone has information on those buried here, please contact me. Quinn Located at the end of Bethabara Road on the Quinn property by the creek. Both were cremated. Hays, Ruth Runyon Quinn born 1901 Died 1992 Mother of Robert Quinn Quinn, Capt. Robert "Bob" D. Died 25 Jun 1995 Son of Ruth Runyon Quinn Hays Tusquittee Church of God (1 name) The Tusquittee Church of God is located northeast of Hayesville, NC on State Route 1307 approximately 6.5 miles from the corporate limit. In the courtyard of the church, there stands a marker with the following inscription: Rev. J. A. Davis Second State Overseer of Church of God in North Carolina From 1914 - 1916 Also 1920 - 1921 Died September 14 1928 He fought a good fight. Rev. Davis applied for a marriage license December 1, 1907 when he was twenty-four. He married Sally Stillwell on March 2, 1908. Registered in New Marriage Records on page 20 on April 15, 1908. Misc.
