TOWRY FAMILY CEMETERY - Cleveland County, NC - Cemeteries TOWRY FAMILY CEMETERY Cleveland County, NC A thank you to Miles Philbeck, Bulletin Editor for The Genealogical Society Of Old Tryon County for giving us permission to use this survey. This one is in the northwestern edge of Cleveland County on the west side of SR 1529 about three miles west of Casar, NC and about a mile north of New Home church. There are only two graves in a rock wall. I havn’t been to this cemetery. From Bulletin of Genealogical Society of Old Tryon County January 31, 1973. Here are some updated directions as provided by Mr. Dennis Morgan. Take Hwy 226 North from Shelby to Polkville. About a half a mile after you go through the traffic light in Polkville Hwy 10 bears to the right. Take Hwy 10 for about five miles till you come to Sr 1533 which is Moriah School Road. Turn left on this road and travel about three more miles. At the first cross roads turn right. This is just pass New Home Church. Go exactly one mile and if you will look to your left you will see two tombstones about twenty-five feet off the road between the road and a plowed field in a bunch of grown up bushes. This is just before reaching the stop sign. One stone is in good shape but the other is broken in half. The rock wall can only be seen by racking the undergrowth back. Towry, George S. April 28, 1812 March 8, 1900 Towry, Mary M.
