Written: June 25, 1840

Cleveland County, North Carolina's first deed was recorded in Book A page 1.
Ellender McEntire bought a boy, Albert, from Elizabeth Elliott. She paid $120
cash. An addtional $120 is payable within a year. Deed was recorded by A.R.
Homesley C.C. on June 25, 1840. Cleveland's charte was granted in 1841.

(Note: the article is not verbatim. County historians were trying to determine 
the original deed for a school and stumbled onto the McEntire deed.
